The membership committee’s purpose is to ensure the member benefits and services that we offer at the Opelika Chamber of Commerce match the needs of our business community. The committee prioritizes two aspects: membership retention and recruitment. Committee members represent the business community so that they are in tune with prevalent issues and how the chamber can be the solution to those concerns. Committee members will perform exit interviews with members who have dropped and will provide a steady stream of new member leads to our membership & marketing coordinator. Our members are the lifeblood of our organization, so ensuring their happiness is always a top priority.
Additionally, the membership committee is responsible for managing the direction of the Ambassador program to ensure we are continually recruiting and retaining members for continuous growth as a chamber. Ambassadors serve as cheerleaders for the Opelika Chamber and its members, so it is crucial for the membership committee to utilize the best people for the job, and guide them in their efforts.
