Education Committee (Mackenzie)
Our Purpose is to aid in the growth of our members and community at large by defining and deciding on educational programs of interest as a part of our annual programming & event calendar. Additionally, the education committee will focus on supporting our community’s workforce development efforts by:
- Partnering with the educational institutions that service our area
- Highlighting what’s possible for youth in education via Career Discovery & Lee County Young Leaders programs
- Supporting & promoting adult education opportunities
- Recruiting businesses to participate in mentorship & apprenticeship programs

Women’s Business Council (Mackenzie)
Our purpose is to plan and promote programming efforts targeted at women in business and their unique needs to be successful. Additionally, the women’s business council will work to engage with women in our community to get actively engaged in our organization for networking and growth opportunities.

Minority Business Council (Ali & Mackenzie)
Our purpose is to foster growth and networking for minority businesses through targeted programming and events, and to be a resource to minority business owners in our community. This council will oversee the planning for any and all new endeavors to be created in accordance with this new group.

Small Business Committee (Ali & Mackenzie)
Our purpose is to foster growth and networking for small businesses through targeted programs, such as mentorships, mastermind groups and small business grants. Additionally, the small business committee will work to be a resource to entrepreneurs through the development of a “Small Business Toolkit”, to aid in their challenges and struggles associated with small business growth.

Membership Committee (Jill)
Our purpose is to ensure the member benefits and services that we offer at the Opelika Chamber of Commerce match the needs of our business community. Additionally, the membership committee is responsible for managing the direction of the Ambassador program to ensure we are continually recruiting and retaining members to ensure continuous growth as an organization. Recognition Committee (Dinah)
Our purpose is to find ways to celebrate our members for their achievements, accomplishments, and birthday/anniversaries. Additionally, the recognition committee is responsible for soliciting nominations and selecting award recipients at both the Opelika Chamber organization level, but also state and nationwide levels in order to advocate for and raise awareness of our business community and their accomplishments. Governmental Affairs Committee (Ali)
Our purpose is to remain active and engaged in local, state, and national government affairs, and to function as a sounding board for any issues that may impact the business and/or industry in our community. Additionally, the governmental affairs committee will work to stay connected with our elected officials by planning “Capitol Visits” for influential and engaged businesses and groups to travel to both the State & US Capitol so we can actively advocate for our community and its business members to our elected officials.
